We are celebrating our 13 Year Anniversary (2007-2020) of ministry in separating The Holy Book of Mormon from the Mormon Church.

Books of Mormon

May 2007,  Books of Mormon

Why are we doing this work? Because The Holy Book of Mormon was never meant to be tied to any particular church. The promise of additional records has not been realized due in part to a Church-wide curse of “condemnation” for not following The Holy Book of Mormon:

54 And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received—
55 Which vanity and unbelief have brought the whole church under condemnation.
56 And this condemnation resteth upon the children of Zion, even all.
57 And they shall remain under this condemnation until they repent and remember the new covenant, even the Book of Mormon and the former commandments which I have given them, not only to say, but to do according to that which I have written—(D&C 84:54–57)

The Church is not following the teachings in The Holy Book of Mormon and for that reason is under a Church-wide curse. Which teachings are they not following? That is the purpose of this work. Two examples include giving the sacrament to the unbaptized (e.g., infants, non-members, etc.). and routinely baptizing children for the “remission of sins” when they turn eight:

11 And this shall ye always do [Sacrament] to those who repent and are baptized (3 Nephi 18:11)

26 For this shall be a law unto the inhabitants of Zion, or in any of her stakes which are organized.
27 And their children shall be baptized for the remission of their sins when eight years old, and receive the laying on of the hands. (D&C 68:26–27)

It’s not about what age a person becomes accountable; it’s about when a person knowingly sins against God, and needs to repent, followed by baptism “for the remission of sins.”

Our Founders

Our founders are Arlin and Tammy Nusbaum. They came to those two crossroads with their own children and were the only ones withholding the sacrament from their unbaptized children at Church (which created no small stir). When it came time to baptize them, Arlin could not equate his innocent eight-year-old with the adult sinners he baptized on his mission—who really did need repentance and baptism for “the remission of past sins.” They resigned from the Church in favor of The Holy Book of Mormon.

Arlin walks in the spirit of his ancestor, the reformer and protomartyr, the Rev. John Rogers, who separated the Holy Bible from the Roman Church. Arlin is doing the same now by separating The Holy Book of Mormon from the Mormon Church.

Arlin went to Geneva to study the life of John Calvin, another reformer who filled the void of those leaving the Roman Catholic Church with true Biblical principles (see Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion).
